r/loseit is a community for people of all sizes to discuss healthy and sustainable methods of weight loss. Whether you need to lose 2 or 200 pounds, you are welcome here!
As a community we strive to support one another in a vast variety of ways. Sharing knowledge, answering questions, celebrating progress, offering emotional support and creating competitions to challenge ourselves and one another.
However, as with any community of this size we have guidelines that our users are requested to follow. These rules are as follows:
Before posting a question, check the FAQ page for common questions and answers. If your question is addressed in the FAQ, but you’d like more details based on your specific situation or need clarification, the Daily Q&A Post is recommended. In order to get the most useful responses, be sure you include details on your specific situation to get more specific feedback, and consider Including your stats in your flair.
SHARING YOUR PROGRESS AND ACHIEVEMENTS
A big part of LoseIt is sharing your progress. There are momentous occasions that you will want to enshrine and share. We appreciate that and we even have names for these posts:
Scale Victory (SV) – an accomplishment or milestone related to your weight (Scale Victories, or SV),
Non-Scale Victory (NSV) – a notable and conspicuous event related to your efforts but not the scale
Major Milestones – commonly recognized significant waypoints on your way to healthy
Progress Updates – often with pictures, to show the difference between then and now
We provide a daily post to capture these important events, and we require that you use that post any time you want to share your accomplishments with us.
On the occasion, however, that you feel it’s an accomplishment that rises to the level of a teachable moment, that includes actionable information useful for others appropriate to create your own solo post regarding your story — you are welcome to post a solo post as long as it contains the information to help others learn from your success. These posts should include the text SV or NSV in the title.
Solo posts about a victory, milestone, or progress will require that you include significant detail to help others achieve the same success. Posts with insufficient detail will be removed and you will be invited to add information before reposting. This is not a reflection of how “good” or “major” your achievement is, it is a reflection of the level of detail that is useful to helping others achieve the same victory or progress.
WHAT CAN I NOT POST?
The following types of posts are not allowed on /r/loseit and will be removed by the moderators:
Advertisement – Do not promote your product or weight loss program through a post. If you want to advertise, refer to https://www.reddit.com/advertising
Self-Promotion – Do not link to your own content for the purposes of generating views of traffic, as determined by the moderators based on the Reddit Self-Promotion Guidelines
Requests for Money – Do not ask for donations or link to a crowdfunding site such as GoFundMe.
Diet Cash Pools – Do not ask for users to participate in a cash-based diet website, such as dietbet.com.
Political threads or comments – Do not bring political topics or discussion into /r/loseit
We do not allow these types of posts to ensure that /r/loseit is a source for unbiased discussion and information. The weight loss field is saturated with false claims, drugs, and plans by people trying to make money, and we want to avoid that on /r/loseit as much as possible.
