Last Christmas vs. this Christmas

I’ve lost almost 50 pounds since September. I still have a lot to go (over 100 pounds!) but I’m extremely proud of myself so far. One year ago I never would have thought I would even get this far! Back in September, I found out that I had high blood pressure and PCOS. My doctor told me that if I didn’t make changes now, I would have serious health issues by the time I turned 30. No one in their 20’s wants to hear something like that so he gave me one month to get my bp down or he would have to put me on medication.

The first month I dropped 20 pounds and by my next appointment, my bp had dropped to a normal rate! And I haven’t looked back since. My doctor prescribed me an appetite suppressant and I continue to see him once a month to get weighed and for a check up to make sure everything is healthy. I’ve accomplished this so far by CICO. I also try to eat more balanced meals with plenty of veggies and protein instead of processed junk. I stopped eating out and drinking soda. Before, I would drink soda with nearly every meal and eat fast food at least once daily! Now, I drink a ton of water, I even have a reusable water bottle I bring with me everywhere. I’ve also been walking a lot and just moving more in general.

And only 50 pounds has shown great results for my health! My knees no longer hurt, my bp is normal, I have more energy, and I actually feel like I’m in my 20’s again. And I also love the changes in my appearance, especially my face.

So if you are just starting out, have more to lose like me, or even maintaining, we got this!! Here’s to 2019!

Edit: also wanted to make a shout out to /u/8-BitBaker. I came across one of her posts back in September and ended up PMing her. She was very kind and encouraging. đŸ™‚ She told me this was my year and that I could do this. So thank you so much!
